In June 2012, EngageMedia co-founded the Video4Change network with 14 other organisations. This year, we’ll be working with the MIT Center for Civic Media and Open Documentary Lab to research how social-change video creates impact and how that impact can be measured. We’ll also be developing v4c.org as a umbrella space for the network, as well as adding a host of video4change guides and tools.

Collaborating with Transparency International Indonesia (TI-Indonesia), EngageMedia launched ‘Moviemento’, a new series of video trainings.

In December 2012 I did a series of talks at the MIT Center for Civic Media and Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard. The talks delved into the work of EngageMedia and also the nature of citizen video, video4change and the Southeast Asia landscape. Video from two of the talks are linked to below.

In March 2012, supported by Tifa, EM started working with Indonesian migrant workers to increase their capacity in video making and distribution to support their campaign.

The ‘Screen Below The Wind Festival’, held 16-18 November 2012, in Ubud, Bali, is one of its kind. A range of workshops, social gatherings, and Focus Group Discussions created a warm and modest atmosphere to explore documentary film.
