In July 2013, two members of the EngageMedia staff went on a scoping visit to Yangon (Myanmar) and Chiang Mai (Thailand) to see how video is being used by Burmese filmmakers and video-producing organisations to support democracy. The full report is here.

We screened 12 films that night, with films mostly about migrant workers. Everyone in the village, young and old, attended and even the head of district came over! After some simple food and tea we began the screening and held a discussion after.

Since our recent Video4Change gathering (V4C) was the first of its kind in Indonesia, we made some observations and received feedback on design of the gathering.

On 24-25 March, 12 video activists from Jakarta, Bandung, Cilacap, Cirebon, Purwokerto, and Jogjakarta came together at the first Video4Change gathering in Indonesia to share their experiences in making videos for social change with a focus on impact.

Crossroads is an EngageMedia-first initiative in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Through a series of workshops, we are working with migrant workers, refugees and stateless people (MRS) from Indonesia, Nepal and Myanmar to produce short advocacy videos of their respective situations in Malaysia.
