July was a busy month for EngageMedia in Myanmar as there were two technology camps that I had to attend as a speaker and trainer. These were the Pyay Barcamp and Tech Camp 2016 in Mandalay.

In late September 2016, the Papuan Voices II collection was screened in collaboration with the Faculty of Gender Studies at the University of Malaya.

On 21 April 2016, six short films by Papuan filmmakers and activists opened Jagongan Media Rakyat 2016 (The People’s Media Festival 2016) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

On 24 May 2016, Andrew Lowenthal, Director of EngageMedia, and myself, Communications and Outreach Coordinator, attended the 4th installment of Good Pitch Europe in Stockholm, Sweden. The event brought together 7 feature-length films, over 170 organizations and 259 participants.

#FORBALI or Bali Tolak Reklamasi Forum is the largest movement in Bali raising awareness to resist a government reclamation plan.

Two days, over 30 organizations, and 200 people formed the building blocks for ‘Tech Camp Myanmar: Tech for Transparency and the New Myanmar’ on March 8 and 9 in Yangon.

#FORBALI or Bali Tolak Reklamasi has been one of the biggest movement in Bali to create awareness to fight against reclamation plan by some private investors.

In March, partnering with the MCMAHT (Myanmar Catholic Migration and Anti-Human Trafficking) Network, we organized a screening of films on migrant workers attended by 40 residents in the village of Kwin Sann, Bago, Myanmar.

In February 2016, a screening of five advocacy videos from the Papuan Voices collection was organized by students at the National University of Singapore.
